Product Description

Spur gear module 2.5, z=24, with hub, hardened

The spur gear module 2.5 shown, 24 teeth, with hub, is a basic component of module drives - it meshes with any other gear or gear rack (toothed rack) of the same module and pressure angle 20°. The teeth are induction hardened to 45-55 HRC, which significantly increases wear resistance and extends gear service life in heavily loaded transmissions.

Frequently asked questions

Do straight-tooth module gears have a specific mounting direction?

No, a straight-tooth gear is symmetrical and can be mounted either way round; direction only matters with helical teeth, where the helix angle must match the mating gear.

How do you mount a module gear using clamping rings?

These rings are slid between the plain shaft and the plain bore of the gear. When the screws are tightened, the ring expands and locks the gear with a force many times greater than a traditional key. This is the ideal solution for module gears operating with changing direction of rotation (no backlash at the key).

What does it mean when the gear "skips" teeth under load?

Most often it is a sign that the transmitted torque exceeds the tooth strength for the given module, or that the backlash is too large - in both cases continued operation leads to the teeth breaking off quickly.

What is profile shift and when is it used?

It is a slight shift of the tooth profile relative to the standard profile, used mainly with a very small number of teeth to avoid undercutting the tooth root; in typical stock applications it is not required.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications include conveyor drives, packaging machines, industrial automation and positioning systems using a gear and gear rack pair.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
