Product Description

Spur gear module 2.5, z=20, with hub, stainless

The spur gear module 2.5 shown, 20 teeth, with hub, is a basic component of module drives - it meshes with any other gear or gear rack (toothed rack) of the same module and pressure angle 20°. Stainless steel version - identical dimensions to the standard model, but with corrosion resistance thanks to the use of stainless steel.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the pilot bore in a module gear often smaller than required?

A "rough" bore allows you to bore it out yourself to the exact, non-standard size of the customer's shaft - a ready-made large bore from stock would rarely match the required size perfectly.

Can a module gear be painted or lacquered?

Yes, the external surfaces (sides, circumference) can be protected with lacquer, but the teeth and the mounting bore should remain clean, because the coating would change their actual dimensions and disrupt meshing with the other gear.

What lubrication is optimal for open module (rack) gear drives?

For open systems (gear + gear rack), it is best to use thick greases with added graphite or copper, which adhere firmly to the teeth and are not flung off by centrifugal force. In very dusty applications, dry Teflon lubricants perform better.

What is profile shift and when is it used?

It is a slight shift of the tooth profile relative to the standard profile, used mainly with a very small number of teeth to avoid undercutting the tooth root; in typical stock applications it is not required.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications include conveyor drives, packaging machines, industrial automation and positioning systems using a gear and gear rack pair.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
