Product Description

Spur gear module 1, z=12, with hub

Gear module 1, z=12, with hub - a robust component for building and repairing gear transmissions, reducers and rack drives (gear rack + gear). The gear is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the involute tooth profile and 20° pressure angle ensure smooth, quiet meshing with gears or racks of the same module.

Frequently asked questions

How does a module gear differ from a chain sprocket?

A module gear meshes directly with another gear or gear rack, while a sprocket works with a roller chain - they have a different tooth profile and are not interchangeable, even though they look similar from a distance.

Why is the pilot bore in a module gear often smaller than required?

A "rough" bore allows you to bore it out yourself to the exact, non-standard size of the customer's shaft - a ready-made large bore from stock would rarely match the required size perfectly.

What does the pressure angle mean in module gears and why is it usually 20°?

The pressure angle defines the inclination of the tooth flank. In European industry the standard is 20°, because it provides the optimal balance between tooth root strength and quiet gearbox operation. This avoids the phenomenon known as tooth undercutting on smaller gears.

How do you mount a module gear using clamping rings?

These rings are slid between the plain shaft and the plain bore of the gear. When the screws are tightened, the ring expands and locks the gear with a force many times greater than a traditional key. This is the ideal solution for module gears operating with changing direction of rotation (no backlash at the key).

Where is this product used?

Module gears of this type are used in speed reducers, machine gearboxes, CNC machine tools and in rack drives of sliding and entrance gates.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
