Product Description
Module gear with hub, module 1,5, 40 teeth - PA12-CF15 plastic, O3D
The O3D spur gear module 1,5, 40 teeth, is a light module gear with hub, 3D printed from PA12 nylon with carbon fibre (PA12-CF15). The outer diameter is 63 mm and the O12 mm pilot bore is prepared for reaming to the shaft size. It works well in transmissions with light and medium loads.

Where can this plastic gear be used?
A light nylon gear with carbon fibre works well wherever low weight, quiet operation and corrosion resistance matter, e.g.:
- conveyors and transporters
- test and research stands
- light drives in agricultural and garden machinery
- robotics and grippers
- office and printing equipment
- drones
- actuators and auxiliary drives
Questions and answers about the spur gear module 1,5
In which modules are O3D gears with hub available?
Yes. We offer O3D gears with hub in modules from 0,5 to 5, in steps of 0,25.
Is the gear material flammable?
The material has flammability class HB according to UL94 (for a thickness of 1,6 mm).
Can I combine the O3D gear with a metal gear?
Yes. Steel conducts heat away from the mesh, so a steel-plastic pair runs cooler and wears more slowly than a plastic-plastic pair.
Do not use this combination when:
- the steel gear is soft (unhardened) or has rough teeth - PA12-CF15 is abrasive and will wear its teeth; for the same reason, mating with brass and aluminium is ruled out,
- loads are high or shocks occur - a plastic tooth is much weaker than a steel one and will break or deform permanently when overloaded,
- speeds are high and operation is continuous - heat builds up in the plastic gear, the material softens and the tooth wears faster,
- precise positioning or zero backlash is required - a printed gear has a lower accuracy class than a milled one, and under constant load the plastic slowly creeps.
Can you make the gear from a different material?
Yes. If PA12-CF15 does not suit the operating conditions of your transmission, we will select another material and make the gear from it. Describe the application to us and we will propose a solution.
Where can I ask about fitting a gear to my transmission?
Contact us by e-mail, via the contact form or by phone - we will help you choose a gear for your transmission.
