Product Description
Spur gear module 1.5, z=14, with hub
The spur gear module 1.5 shown, 14 teeth, with hub, is a basic component of module drives - it meshes with any other gear or gear rack (toothed rack) of the same module and pressure angle 20°. The gear is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the involute tooth profile and 20° pressure angle ensure smooth, quiet meshing with gears or racks of the same module.

Frequently asked questions
Can gears with different modules be combined in one gearbox?
Absolutely not. Teeth of different modules differ in size and pitch. Any attempt to mesh them will end in the drive jamming or the teeth breaking off immediately on the first revolution of the shaft.
What is the module of a gear and how do you measure it correctly?
The module (m) is the basic parameter defining tooth size, i.e. the ratio of the pitch diameter to the number of teeth. The simplest way to measure it in workshop conditions is to measure the outside diameter of the gear (Dz), count the teeth (Z) and use the formula: m = Dz / (Z + 2).
How do you calculate the outside diameter from the number of teeth and the module?
It is very simple maths, often used by maintenance departments. The formula is: Dz = m * (Z + 2). For example, for a gear with module 3 and 20 teeth, the outside diameter will be: 3 * (20 + 2) = 66 mm.
What lubrication is optimal for open module (rack) gear drives?
For open systems (gear + gear rack), it is best to use thick greases with added graphite or copper, which adhere firmly to the teeth and are not flung off by centrifugal force. In very dusty applications, dry Teflon lubricants perform better.
Where is this product used?
Typical applications include conveyor drives, packaging machines, industrial automation and positioning systems using a gear and gear rack pair.
