Product Description
Sprocket 28B-3 z=12, with hub
Sprocket 28B-3 (pitch 1 3/4" - 44.45 mm), triplex (three-strand), 12 teeth, with hub. The material is C45E carbon steel (EN 10083-1), and the teeth remain unhardened (without induction hardening) - in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606; this version is easier to machine over the entire depth of the sprocket.

Frequently asked questions
Do a newly fitted chain and sprocket require running-in after installation?
After installation, it is worth running the drive for a while without full load, observing the smoothness of operation and the bearing temperature - this allows installation errors (e.g. misalignment) to be detected before full load is applied. The tooth profile of the sprocket itself does not require running-in if the sprocket and chain have matching pitch and are made in accordance with the standard.
Does a sprocket with hub have a fixed mounting side, or can it be reversed?
The sprocket is usually symmetrical with respect to the plane of the rim, so the rim itself cannot be "reversed incorrectly" - but the hub is usually on only one side of the sprocket, which determines which way the sprocket must be mounted relative to other components on the shaft (e.g. bearings, other sprockets).
How do sprockets for roller chains differ from sprockets for toothed chains (silent chain)?
A sprocket for roller chain has a rounded tooth root matched to the chain roller (profile according to DIN 8187), whereas a sprocket for toothed chain (silent chain) has a flat, trapezoidal tooth profile that engages the chain plates instead of rollers. These two systems are not interchangeable.
What happens when a sprocket operates under a greater load than intended?
Overloading first accelerates normal tooth wear, and with sudden overloads (e.g. machine blockage) the teeth may become permanently bent or sheared. In such cases, using an overload clutch in the system is often a better solution than choosing an oversized sprocket "just in case".
Where is this product used?
28B-3 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.
