Product Description
Sprocket 28B-1 z=30, with hub
Sprocket 28B-1 (pitch 1 3/4" - 44.45 mm), simplex, 30 teeth, with hub. The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
How do I determine the centre distance between the driving and driven sprockets?
The centre distance should provide an adequate chain wrap angle on the smaller sprocket (usually a minimum of about 120°) and sufficient chain length so that the number of links is a whole number, preferably even. Too small a centre distance increases the meshing frequency and accelerates wear, while too large a one leads to excessive chain sag.
When ordering several sprockets for one drive, do they have identical production parameters?
Sprockets of the same catalogue item are produced according to the same documentation and tolerances, so their parameters (pitch, number of teeth, dimensions) match each other regardless of when they were ordered. Any slight differences in the shade of the steel between production batches have no effect on how the sprocket works with the chain.
How does rotational speed affect the selection of the minimum number of teeth of a sprocket in the system?
At higher rotational speeds, a larger minimum number of teeth on the smallest sprocket in the system is recommended to reduce chain vibration and impacts resulting from the so-called polygon effect. With very small sprockets (e.g. 9-11 teeth) and high speeds, wear and vibration levels increase significantly faster than with larger sprockets.
Is it worth using guards on sprockets and the entire drive?
Yes - a guard protects operators from contact with moving parts and at the same time limits the ingress of dust and moisture to the chain, which genuinely extends its service life. In many industrial machines, a chain drive guard is also an occupational safety requirement.
Where is this product used?
Typical applications of the 28B-1 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.
