Product Description
Sprocket 28B-1 z=22, with hub
Sprocket 28B-1 with hub, 22 teeth, simplex - a product matched to chain with a pitch of 44.45 mm (1 3/4"). The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
How can you recognise a sprocket not made in accordance with the DIN 8187 profile?
Most often it is visible from the incorrect seating of the chain on the teeth - the chain "sits" on the tooth tips or too deep in the tooth roots, despite the correct pitch. In that case, it is worth placing a section of a known reference chain of this pitch on the sprocket and checking whether it engages each tooth evenly and smoothly.
Will a sprocket from another manufacturer work properly with the chain I already have?
If the sprocket is made to the same standard (DIN 8187/ISO 606) and has the same pitch and number of strands, it should work properly with a chain of another brand - that is the purpose of standardisation in this industry. However, differences between manufacturers may concern, for example, hub dimensions or material, so these parameters are worth checking separately.
What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?
The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.
How does rotational speed affect the selection of the minimum number of teeth of a sprocket in the system?
At higher rotational speeds, a larger minimum number of teeth on the smallest sprocket in the system is recommended to reduce chain vibration and impacts resulting from the so-called polygon effect. With very small sprockets (e.g. 9-11 teeth) and high speeds, wear and vibration levels increase significantly faster than with larger sprockets.
Where is this product used?
28B-1 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.
