Frequently asked questions

Is this inox sprocket suitable for the food industry?

Yes, this toothed wheel is made of stainless steel (inox), resistant to water and aggressive cleaning agents, which is a hygiene requirement in the food and chemical industries.

What is a pilot bore in a sprocket, and why is it left?

Sprockets with a hub have a small pilot (pre-drilled) bore. It is left on purpose so that any customer or workshop can bore it out precisely to the exact shaft size of their machine.

How to cut a keyway in the sprocket hub?

Keyways are cut precisely on slotting machines to DIN 6885. If you do it yourself, keep the alignment and the correct width and depth of the keyway so that the key sits firmly and is not sheared off.

What does the lead time depend on?

When buying, please note the lead time - it is shown directly next to the product's stock level. The sprocket with a pilot bore should be clamped in a lathe (gripping the outer edge of the hub to avoid runout) and bored to the required diameter in H7 tolerance.
