Product Description
Sprocket 12B-3 z=23, hardened hub
Triplex sprocket 12B-3 with hardened hub, 23 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 3/4" (19.05 mm). Compliance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 guarantees full interchangeability with chain of the same pitch; C45E steel (EN 10083-1) and induction hardening of the teeth (45-55 HRC) provide high wear resistance while keeping the hub machinable.

Frequently asked questions
How do I select a sprocket for a roller chain?
The selected sprocket must match the chain parameters exactly. Pay attention to three things: the standard (European B series), the pitch and the number of strands. The sprocket must have a tooth profile compliant with DIN 8187 so that the chain enters the tooth root smoothly without jamming.
How does uneven tooth wear affect machine vibration?
Worn teeth cause the so-called polygon effect - the chain drops off and climbs onto the teeth abruptly, which transmits vibrations to the shafts, destroys the bearings and leads to cracking of welds in the machine.
What is the set screw hole in the hub for?
The threaded hole in the hub is used to screw in a headless screw (a so-called grub screw). It secures the sprocket against axial displacement along the shaft during machine vibration.
Is a triplex sprocket the same as a tandem sprocket (for three single chains)?
No, even though they look very similar. A tandem sprocket is also a single, one-piece sprocket, but with a different (wider) spacing of the toothed rims - designed for independent simplex chains running in parallel. This triplex sprocket has a rim spacing matched to a single triplex chain in which all three strands are integrated with each other. Using a triplex sprocket for three single chains is a mistake - the spacing is too narrow, the chains will rub against each other, which leads to accelerated wear and, in extreme cases, to serious drive failure.
Where is this product used?
12B-3 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.
