Product Description
Sprocket 10B-3 z=114, with cast iron hub
Triplex (three-strand) sprocket 10B-3 with hub, 114 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 5/8" (15.88 mm). Cast iron version of the sprocket - the tooth geometry is identical to the steel version with the same pitch and number of teeth; the bore in the hub is a pilot (preliminary) bore, and the exact size is achieved by turning.

Frequently asked questions
How can you tell whether a sprocket is still fit for further service or already due for replacement?
It is worth checking the tooth profile for visible chipping or the characteristic "hooked" shape, and also measuring the pitch circle diameter and comparing it with the catalogue dimension of a new sprocket. If the difference is visually noticeable or the chain starts to "jump", the sprocket is due for replacement.
How can you check that the sprocket meshes correctly with the chain when the machine is started for the first time?
At low speed (e.g. turning the shaft by hand), it is worth observing whether the chain enters and leaves the teeth smoothly around the entire circumference of the sprocket, without catching or jumping. Any irregularities in operation at this stage usually indicate an alignment error rather than a defect in the sprocket itself.
How do I select a sprocket for a roller chain?
The selected sprocket must match the chain parameters exactly. Pay attention to three things: the standard (European B series), the pitch and the number of strands. The sprocket must have a tooth profile compliant with DIN 8187 so that the chain enters the tooth root smoothly without jamming.
How often should chain tension be checked on a machine in operation?
In machines operating continuously, it is advisable to check the tension every few weeks, and in a newly installed drive - as early as after the first hours of operation, when the chain "beds in". A correctly tensioned chain has a slight, visible sag on the slack side - too tight a chain accelerates bearing wear, while too loose a chain increases the risk of it jumping off the sprocket.
Does a cast iron sprocket require a different chain than a steel sprocket of the same pitch?
No - the tooth geometry and pitch are identical to those of the steel version of the same size, so the cast iron sprocket works with the same chain. The difference lies in the material of the hub and rim: cast iron dampens vibrations better and is cheaper, but withstands impacts and operation at high rotational speeds less well than steel.
Where is this product used?
This type of sprocket is used in drives of agricultural and industrial machinery, including screw and bucket conveyors, feed conveyors, packaging machines and internal transport systems.
