Product Description

Sprocket 10B-1 z=16, hardened hub

The sprocket 10B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 16 teeth, made with a hardened hub, for chain with a pitch of 5/8" / 15.875 mm. Sprocket compliant with DIN 8187 / ISO 606, milled from C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are induction hardened (45-55 HRC), while the core and hub remain soft, allowing the bore to be safely machined to the shaft size.

Frequently asked questions

Why are cast sprockets less precise than turned and milled ones?

Cheap castings have a rough tooth surface, hidden air bubbles and slight deformations. CNC-turned and milled sprockets mean a smooth working surface, perfect alignment and safety for the most expensive machines.

How do you cut a keyway in the hub of a sprocket?

We cut keyways precisely on slotting machines according to DIN 6885. If you do it yourself, maintain axial alignment and the correct width and depth of the keyway so that the key sits securely and is not sheared off.

How does a hardness of around 45-55 HRC on the teeth extend the service life of the sprocket-chain system?

A hardness of 45-55 HRC matched to the hardened chain rollers is the optimal combination. The sprocket and chain wear slowly and evenly, and the sprocket does not turn into a "blade" that could shear the chain during operation.

How do you calculate the pitch circle diameter of a sprocket?

The pitch circle diameter (Dp) is, in simplified terms, the line along which the chain rollers roll. It is calculated using the formula: pitch divided by sine (180° / number of teeth).

Where is this product used?

Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
