Frequently asked questions
Which chain does this sprocket fit?
ASA 50-1 (10A-1) roller chain with a pitch of 15.875 mm. A simplex sprocket requires a single-strand (simplex) chain.
Does it fit 10B chain?
No. 10B chain (European standard) has the same pitch and roller diameter, but a different inner width (9.65 mm instead of 9.52 mm). The ASA 50 sprocket is designed for American-standard chain, so the two systems should not be mixed.
When should I choose a sprocket with hub and when a plate wheel?
A sprocket with hub is chosen when it transmits torque directly from the shaft via a key - the hub provides a longer contact surface with the shaft and a more stable fit. Plate wheels are used mainly when the wheel is fixed to an existing flange or drum, or when there is little space on the shaft.
How does the number of teeth affect the drive ratio?
The ratio is the number of teeth of the driven wheel divided by the number of teeth of the driving wheel. If this sprocket drives a wheel with twice as many teeth, the driven shaft turns twice as slowly but with roughly twice the torque.
Why does the sprocket have a pilot bore and how is it machined?
The pilot bore of Ø12 mm is left on purpose so that it can be bored precisely to the machine shaft size. The sprocket is clamped in a lathe by the outer edge of the hub to avoid run-out, and the bore is usually machined to H7 tolerance. The maximum bore diameter depends on the hub diameter (57 mm).
What does the lead time depend on?
When ordering, please check the current stock level of this sprocket - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may vary depending on the warehouse.
