Product Description
Sprocket 08B-1 z=64, with hub
Sprocket 08B-1 with hub, 64 teeth, simplex - a product matched to chain with a pitch of 12.7 mm (1/2"). The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
What does the marking "z=X" on a sprocket mean and why is it so important when ordering?
"z" is the number of teeth of the sprocket - together with the pitch and the number of chain strands, it unambiguously defines the sprocket geometry (pitch circle and outside diameter). Ordering a sprocket with the wrong "z" usually means that it will not work correctly with the second sprocket already in the machine, and a different transmission ratio than intended will result.
Can I replace a simplex sprocket with a duplex one without changing the other drive components?
No - switching to a duplex chain and sprocket requires replacing the entire set (the sprockets on both sides of the drive and the chain) with a duplex version of the same pitch, because the rim spacing and chain width differ from those of the simplex version.
Can a sprocket be reconditioned, e.g. by hardfacing worn teeth?
Technically, hardfacing and re-milling the teeth is possible, but in practice it is rarely cost-effective - the cost of reconditioning is often close to the price of a new sprocket, and restoring the full precision of the tooth profile requires specialist machining. In most cases, replacing it with a new sprocket is the quicker and safer solution.
Does a sprocket with hub have a fixed mounting side, or can it be reversed?
The sprocket is usually symmetrical with respect to the plane of the rim, so the rim itself cannot be "reversed incorrectly" - but the hub is usually on only one side of the sprocket, which determines which way the sprocket must be mounted relative to other components on the shaft (e.g. bearings, other sprockets).
Where is this product used?
Typical applications of the 08B-1 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.
