Product Description
Sprocket 08A-2 (ANSI 40-2) z=30 with hub, C45 steel fits ASA 40 (08A-2) roller chain, double-strand (duplex), with a pitch of 12.7 mm (1/2"). It has 30 teeth and is made of C45 steel in accordance with ISO 606 and ANSI B29.1.
The sprocket has a one-sided hub with a diameter of 100 mm and a pilot bore of Ø20 mm, which is bored to the shaft size and completed with a keyway or a set screw hole. The total width of the sprocket is 40 mm.

Applications
It suits drives of mixers, screw feeders and equipment built to American standards. The double-strand version carries higher loads than a single-strand one of the same pitch, so it is chosen where there is no room for a chain with a larger pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Which chain does this sprocket fit?
ASA 40-2 (08A-2) roller chain with a pitch of 12.7 mm. A duplex sprocket requires a double-strand (duplex) chain.
Does it fit 08B chain?
No. 08B chain (European standard) has the same pitch, but a different roller diameter (8.51 mm instead of 7.94 mm) and a different inner width (7.75 mm instead of 7.94 mm). The ASA 40 sprocket is designed for American-standard chain, so the two systems should not be mixed.
How is the pitch diameter of a sprocket calculated?
The pitch diameter Dp is the circle along which the chain rollers travel. It is calculated with the formula: pitch divided by the sine of (180° / number of teeth). For this sprocket it is 121.5 mm, and the outside diameter De is 128.06 mm.
When should I choose a sprocket with hub and when a plate wheel?
A sprocket with hub is chosen when it transmits torque directly from the shaft via a key - the hub provides a longer contact surface with the shaft and a more stable fit. Plate wheels are used mainly when the wheel is fixed to an existing flange or drum, or when there is little space on the shaft.
How does the number of teeth affect the drive ratio?
The ratio is the number of teeth of the driven wheel divided by the number of teeth of the driving wheel. If this sprocket drives a wheel with twice as many teeth, the driven shaft turns twice as slowly but with roughly twice the torque.
What does the lead time depend on?
When ordering, please check the current stock level of this sprocket - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may vary depending on the warehouse.
