This simplex roller chain bears the designation 12AH-1 (ANSI 60H) and operates at a pitch of 19.05 mm, typical of the drives of machines imported from the USA. Compliance with standard ANSI B29.1 means full interchangeability with chains of this pitch from other suppliers working to the same standard; as a European manufacturer, we also rely on separate hardening of each component. Ozdowski brand chains offer strength up to 20% higher than the standard requires - each component (pin, roller, plate) is hardened individually before the chain is assembled, which translates into greater durability and resistance to elongation.

How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?

Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 12AH (ANSI 60H) they are 19.05 mm, 12.57 mm and 11.91 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.

How does an AH (reinforced) chain differ from the standard version of the same pitch?

The AH version has the same pitch, inner width and roller diameter dimensions as the standard 12A (it works with the same sprockets), but uses thicker side plates - 3.2 mm compared with 2.4 mm in the standard version. As a result, the chain copes better with jerky loads and operation in more demanding conditions.

Can a section length other than the standard lengths listed be ordered?

Yes. As standard, we offer ready, convenient sections in lengths of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 metres, but the chain can also be ordered by the running metre, or several sections can be joined with a connecting link to obtain the required total length - remembering to keep an even number of links.

Does running a chain "dry", without lubrication, really harm the drive?

Yes - lubricant limits metal-to-metal friction in the joints and dissipates heat from the pin contact areas. Without lubricant, micro-seizure, faster heating and accelerated wear of components occur.

Where is this product used?

The heavy-duty version of this pitch (60H) is used as original equipment in, among others, CLAAS combine harvesters - e.g. in the Dominator, Mega and Commandor series - where a standard chain could not cope with shock loads.
