Frequently asked questions
Which poly-V pulley has the PJ profile, a diameter of 280 mm and 12 grooves?
This is the poly-V pulley PJ 280/12, 12 grooves, for Taper-Lock 2517, cast iron.
Which belt fits this pulley?
A PJ poly-V (multi-rib) belt to ISO 9982 / DIN 7867 with a rib pitch of 2.34 mm and up to 12 ribs, e.g. 12PJ... (the belt length is chosen to suit the centre distance). A narrower belt of the same profile will also run.
How does a poly-V belt differ from a V-belt?
A poly-V belt is thin and flexible, so it runs on small diameter pulleys and allows a high ratio in a single stage. One wide belt replaces several V-belts, runs more quietly and has less slip.
Which Taper-Lock bush do I need for this pulley?
A Taper-Lock 2517 bush. The bush is bought separately and its bore is chosen to match the shaft diameter - up to 60 mm for this pulley. The bush clamps onto the shaft when the screws are tightened, so the pulley does not need to be bored and removal is easy.
How do I calculate the belt speed on this pulley?
Belt speed v = π × d × n / 60 000, where d is the pulley diameter in mm and n is the speed in rpm. On this pulley at 1450 rpm the belt runs at approx. 21.3 m/s. The pulley is statically balanced up to 30 m/s.
What does the lead time depend on?
When ordering, please check the current stock level of this pulley - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may differ between warehouses.
