Frequently asked questions

Can I use any linear bearing with this shaft?

It fits any linear bearing, plain bushing or carriage with the matching diameter fi=40 mm and tolerance h7 - the bearing manufacturer does not matter.

Does this shaft have a fixed, ready length?

Yes, the length of 500 mm is fixed and final - the product reaches you fully prepared for assembly.

Can this shaft be used for rotary motion or only for linear motion?

A linear shaft is designed for linear (sliding) motion together with a linear bearing or bushing - it is not a drive shaft transmitting torque, such as a hollow shaft or a splined shaft.

How does the chrome-plated version differ from the standard one?

It is the same material (Cf53) as in the standard version - the difference lies in the tolerance: h7 instead of h6, which is worth checking when selecting the fit with the bearing.

Where are fi=40 linear shafts used?

fi=40 mm linear shafts are most often used in: CNC sliding tables, linear axes of Cartesian robots, 3D printers, plotters, packaging machines, industrial automation feeders, measuring devices, positioning systems and prototype mechanical designs - wherever precise, repeatable linear motion guided on bearings or plain bushings is needed.
