Chain 28B-1 (simplex) is a proven solution for power transmission in mechanical systems, made with a pitch of 44.45 mm. The chain is manufactured in accordance with the standard DIN 8187 / ISO 606; each pin, roller and plate is individually hardened, which we as a European manufacturer consider key to durability. Thanks to hardening each component separately, even before the whole chain is assembled, Ozdowski products achieve a breaking strength about 20% higher than the minimum values specified by the standard.

How do I choose the right roller chain for an industrial drive?

The key is to determine three parameters: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 28B these are 44.45 mm, 30.99 mm and 27.94 mm respectively. In addition, operating conditions should be taken into account: load, rotational speed and environment (dust, moisture), in order to select the right version.

How can industrial chains be cleaned of dirt and mud without damaging the links?

Avoid aggressive acid cleaners and pressure washers at close range, as water can be forced under the rollers. Dedicated cleaning agents and soft brushes are a better solution.

Why is it not advisable to break a chain with a hammer and punch?

Hammer blows generate uncontrolled forces that can damage the fit of the pin in the plate of the adjacent link, and a ricocheting punch can be dangerous and may damage the roller surface.

How does lateral runout of the sprockets affect roller chain durability?

Misalignment of the sprockets causes the chain to jerk alternately from side to side. The inner surfaces of the plates then wear, and the pins are subjected to damaging bending forces.
