Product Description
Roller chain 08A-3 (40-3)
08A-3, known in the ANSI system as number 40, is a triplex roller chain with a pitch of 12.7 mm, used in drives designed to the American standard. Manufactured in accordance with the standard ANSI B29.1; as a European manufacturer, we guarantee dimensional compatibility with sprockets designed to the same standard. The Ozdowski brand hardens pins, rollers and plates individually, before the links are assembled into a complete chain - as a result, our chains are approx. 20% stronger than the standard requires and therefore more durable and robust when working under load.

Frequently asked questions
How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?
Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 08A (ANSI 40) they are 12.7 mm, 7.85 mm and 7.95 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.
What is the triplex design of a roller chain used for?
A triplex chain consists of three parallel rows of links mounted on common pins. This design is chosen when the installation space does not allow a sprocket with a larger pitch and the drive has to transmit a higher torque than the simplex version.
What does the letter H mean in designations such as 50H or 60H?
The letter "H" (heavy) indicates a reinforced series - the chain has identical pitch, width and roller diameter dimensions to the standard version of the same pitch, but thicker side plates, which results in higher resistance to shock loads.
Can an ANSI chain be ordered in a non-standard length?
Yes - with an odd number of links a half link is used, although fitting it slightly weakens the chain. Where possible, it is better to choose a length that gives an even number of links and to close the chain with a full connecting link.
Where is this product used?
Used in drives of machines and equipment under moderate load: conveyors, packaging machines, small agricultural equipment and vehicles.
