Trapezoidal screws

Trapezoidal screws (trapezoidal threaded rods, lead screws) convert rotary motion into linear motion in combination with a nut. A rotating screw moves the nut together with the component attached to it - a table, slide, vice jaw or gate valve. Thanks to their simplicity and high load capacity, trapezoidal screws are used in jacks, presses, vices, gate valves, gates, machine tool tables and positioning axes.

Trapezoidal screws by the metre and in lengths - you buy as much as you need

You buy exactly as much as you need: we sell screws by the running metre, and selected sizes also in ready lengths that do not need cutting and are easier to ship. The thread is standardised, so the screw works with a nut of the same designation from any manufacturer. You choose the material to suit the operating conditions: C15 steel for adjustment mechanisms, stronger C45 steel for higher loads, and stainless steel for damp conditions, outdoor use and the food industry.

Screws with a symmetrical right- and left-hand trapezoidal thread

Screws with a metric symmetrical trapezoidal thread in a wide choice of diameters and leads, most with right- and left-hand thread. A left-hand thread allows you to build a mechanism in which two nuts move towards or away from each other as one screw rotates. Ready lengths can be found in the Trapezoidal screw lengths subgroup, and nuts - in the Nuts category.

Tr trapezoidal thread to DIN 103 - flank angle, diameter and lead

The thread profile has an angle of 30 degrees and is standardised in DIN 103. In the designation, e.g. Tr 20x4, the first number is the nominal diameter in millimetres, and the second is the lead, i.e. the travel of the nut per revolution of the screw. Wide threads carry high axial forces, and with a small lead the thread usually remains self-locking.

Which nut fits a Tr 24x5 screw?

A Tr 24x5 nut with the same thread direction, in a shape suited to the mounting method. Nuts can be found in the Nuts category.

Can a trapezoidal screw replace a ball screw?

In adjustment and slow-running mechanisms, yes. However, a trapezoidal screw has higher friction and lower efficiency, so a ball screw is better for fast, continuous motion.
