L 050 timing pulleys (1/2" belt)

L 050 timing pulleys are designed for L belts with a pitch of 3/8" (9.525 mm) and a width of 1/2" (12.7 mm). They are the narrowest pulleys of the L profile, chosen for compact drives where the transmitted power allows a narrow belt.

L 050 timing pulley - a large ratio in a small space

A narrow belt has a lower mass and puts less load on the bearings, and a narrow pulley takes up little space on the shaft. In this width you will also find very small pulleys, which allow a large ratio in a small space. Smaller pulleys are made of C45 steel, and larger ones of grey cast iron. The pulleys comply with the standard, so they fit L 050 belts from various manufacturers.

Frequently asked questions about L 050 timing belt pulleys

Why are the larger pulleys made of cast iron?

Grey cast iron dampens vibration well and allows a large pulley to be cast with a lightened web. Small pulleys, in which each tooth is more heavily loaded, are made of steel.

Can an L 050 belt run on an L 075 pulley?

It will fit, but the drive will be wider than necessary. It is best to match the pulley to the belt width.
