H 200 timing pulleys (2" belt)

H 200 timing pulleys run with H belts with a pitch of 1/2" (12.7 mm) and a width of 2" (50.8 mm). They are used in heavy drives that need to transmit high torque where there is no room to increase the pulley diameters.

A wide belt spreads the load over many teeth at once, so the drive runs smoothly even under high forces and wears more slowly. Compared with a chain of similar load capacity, it needs no lubrication and is much quieter. Smaller pulleys are made of C45 steel, and larger ones of grey cast iron, which dampens vibration well.

Does a wide H 200 pulley require stronger bearings?

A wider belt runs with higher tension, so when moving to H 200 it is worth checking the bearing load capacity and shaft deflection.

Can I fit an H 150 belt on an H 200 pulley?

A narrower belt will fit on a wider pulley, but the drive will be unnecessarily wide and heavier. It is best to match the pulley to the belt width.
