H timing pulleys work with H belts with a trapezoidal tooth and a pitch of 1/2" (12.7 mm). It is the most popular imperial profile in medium and high-power drives - in agricultural machinery, machine tools, presses and heavy industrial equipment.
H timing pulleys - quiet running without lubrication under high loads
An H belt carries high loads, yet runs quietly and needs no lubrication - a convenient alternative to a chain in machines where grease is a problem. The pulleys comply with the standard, so they replace a worn pulley in the machine without modifications. Smaller pulleys are made of C45 steel, and larger ones of grey cast iron, which dampens vibration well. With the Taper-Lock version you can replace the pulley quickly, without removing the shaft for machining.
1/2 inch pitch H synchronous pulleys - selection by width and mounting
H pulleys divided by belt width, marked in hundredths of an inch (e.g. 100 means 1", i.e. 25.4 mm), and within each width - by mounting method: Pilot bore or Taper-Lock. H belts can be found in the Timing belts category.
H timing belt pulleys - customer questions
Does an H pulley fit 08B chain?
No. Although the pitch is the same, a timing pulley has trapezoidal grooves for the belt teeth, while a sprocket has a profile for the chain rollers.
Which H pulley width should I choose?
The same as the belt width. In a new drive, the width is selected according to the transmitted power - a wider belt transmits more with the same pulley diameters.
