Plate spur gears

Plate spur gears are straight-tooth cylindrical gears made as a flat plate, without a protruding hub. They solve the problem of limited space along the shaft and give you freedom when building your own designs - you can mount the plate on a shaft, on your own hub or bolt it to a flange.

Plate spur gears - lower weight and axial width than a gear with hub

No hub means lower weight and a smaller axial width, and large plates are considerably lighter than solid gears of the same diameter. A driven gear bolted to a flange is easy to replace later without removing the whole assembly from the shaft. We make the plates from C45E steel, and in selected sizes also with induction-hardened teeth, which cope better with high contact pressures and dust.

Plate spur gears with a pilot bore - selection by module

Plates with a 20° involute profile and a pilot bore to be bored out, divided into subgroups by module. Gears with a large number of teeth predominate, working as driven gears in a reduction gear drive. Smaller driving gears with an extended hub can be found in the Spur gears with hub group.

When should I choose a plate gear instead of a gear with hub?

When axial space is limited, weight matters or the gear is to be bolted to another machine component. A gear with hub gives a longer fit and is easier to fix on the shaft with a screw.

Will a plate gear mesh with a gear with hub?

Yes, if both gears have the same module. Meshing is determined by the module and tooth profile, not by the shape of the gear.
