Ozdowski spur gears - 20° involute profile to DIN 867

The gears have an involute tooth profile with a 20° pressure angle to DIN 867, the standard used in mechanical engineering - so they mesh with gears and racks from other manufacturers with the same module. We supply them with a pilot bore that you bore out exactly to your shaft, so one gear fits different designs. The basic material is C45E steel, which is strong and easy to machine. For heavily loaded gear drives choose gears with induction-hardened teeth (45-55 HRC), which keep their profile longer; for damp conditions and the food industry - stainless steel gears; and where quiet running and low weight matter - gears made of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide (PA6+FV); and for non-standard modules - O3D gears 3D printed from PA12-CF15.

Gears with hub have an extended hub that gives stable seating on the shaft and room for a keyway or set screw. Plate gears have no hub - they are shorter axially and lighter, and large plates are often bolted to a flange or drum. Both groups are divided into subgroups by module. Gear module - what it means and how it affects tooth size

The module, given in millimetres, determines the tooth size: the larger the module, the larger and stronger the tooth. Module 1 corresponds to a pitch of 3.14 mm, module 4 - 12.57 mm, and module 8 - 25.13 mm. Only gears and racks with the same module can mesh.

How can I check the module of an old gear?

Most reliably from the machine documentation. If you do not have it, measure the tip diameter of the gear and count the teeth - the exact diameters of each gear are given on the product page, so you can easily compare dimensions.

Does the bore need machining before installation?

Yes. The pilot bore is bored out to the shaft diameter and then a keyway is cut to DIN 6885. In hardened gears only the teeth are hardened, so the bore is machined the same way.
