28B hub sprockets work with 28B roller chain of 1 3/4" (44.45 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. It is one of the largest B series chains, used in low-speed drives under very high loads - in mining, metallurgy, cement plants and heavy industry.
28B hub sprockets - massive sprockets for high forces and shocks
A hub sprocket is a complete drive component: you bore the hole for the shaft, cut a keyway and install it - without welding or making a hub. C45 steel copes well with high forces and shocks, and the massive hub provides a long keyway and stable seating. Standard-compliant sprockets work with 28B chain from any manufacturer.
1 3/4 inch hub sprockets in simplex, duplex and triplex versions
28B-1 simplex, 28B-2 duplex and 28B-3 triplex sprockets - each version has its own subgroup. The standard is C45 steel with unhardened teeth, and among the triplex sprockets a grey cast iron version is also available. Sprockets with hardened teeth can be found in the Hardened hub sprockets group, and plate wheels without a hub - in the Plate sprockets group.
Frequently asked questions about sprockets for 28B chain
Does a 28B sprocket fit ASA 140 chain?
No. ASA 140 (28A) chain has the same pitch, but a different roller and inner width. A series sprockets can be found in the ASA sprockets group.
Will a hardened 28B sprocket replace a standard one without modifications?
Yes. Sprockets with hardened teeth from the Hardened hub sprockets group have the same tooth profile as standard sprockets - they differ in tooth hardness, not in the way they are mounted.
