20B-3 triplex hub sprockets

20B-3 hub sprockets have three tooth rims and run with triplex 20B-3 chain of 1 1/4" (31.75 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. Typical applications are crushers, mills, rotary kilns and large conveyors.

Three strands of 20B chain transmit very high torque while keeping a reasonable sprocket diameter. You bore out the pilot bore for your shaft, and selected larger sprockets are available in grey cast iron. The tall hub guides the wide sprocket stably and leaves room for a long keyway.

How do I check the alignment of triplex sprockets?

Place a straightedge or stretch a string along the faces of both sprockets. The sprockets should lie in one plane - otherwise the outer chain strands carry a larger share of the load.
