12B-3 triplex hub sprockets

12B-3 hub sprockets have three tooth rims and run with triplex 12B-3 chain of 3/4" (19.05 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. They are found in presses, rolling mills, mills and large conveyors.

Three chain strands transmit a torque for which a simplex drive would need a much larger pitch. As a result the sprocket stays smaller and the drive runs more smoothly. You bore out the pilot bore for your shaft, and larger sprockets are also available in grey cast iron.

How should a triplex chain be lubricated?

The lubricant must reach all strands - between the plates, to the pins and bushes. With a wide chain it is worth applying it across the full width, not just to the outer strands.
