08B-2 duplex hub sprockets

08B-2 hub sprockets have two tooth rims and work with duplex 08B-2 chain of 1/2" (12.7 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. They are chosen when a simplex 08B chain is overloaded and moving to a larger pitch would require rebuilding the machine.

08B-2 duplex sprocket - more power in the same installation space

Two chain strands transmit considerably more power, while the sprocket keeps the diameter of the simplex version - so it fits in the same installation space. You bore out the pilot bore for your shaft and cut a keyway, and larger sprockets can be chosen in grey cast iron - they work well as driven sprockets.

Is it enough to replace only the chain in a duplex drive?

No. Both sprockets - driving and driven - must have the same number of strands as the chain, which is why you also replace the sprockets when moving to 08B-2.
