06B-1 hardened hub sprockets

06B-1 hardened hub sprockets are simplex sprockets for 06B-1 chain of 3/8" (9.525 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606, with induction-hardened teeth. They work well in packaging machines, automation equipment and light conveyors, where the chain runs fast and for long periods without a break.

A hardened 06B-1 sprocket keeps the correct tooth profile longer

Hard teeth wear more slowly, so the sprocket keeps its correct profile longer and needs replacing less often. The C45 steel hub is not hardened, so you bore the hole out for your shaft and cut a keyway just as with a standard sprocket.

Do both sprockets in the drive have to be hardened?

Not always. The small driving sprocket wears fastest, so it is often enough to use a hardened driving sprocket and leave the large driven sprocket standard.
