Hub sprockets

Hub sprockets are the most versatile type of chain sprocket. The tooth rim is joined to an extended hub with a pilot bore - you bore it out to your shaft diameter, cut a keyway and the sprocket is ready to work.

Hub sprockets - one sprocket for shafts of different diameters

One sprocket fits shafts of different diameters, so you do not need to look for a sprocket with exactly the bore you need - it is enough that the chain and number of teeth match. The extended hub guides the sprocket stably on the shaft and leaves room for a long keyway and a set screw. We make the sprockets to the standard, so they work with chain from any manufacturer of the same standard.

Hub sprockets for B series, special and 081, 083/084 and 085 chains

Sprockets for European B series chains to DIN 8187 / ISO 606, as well as for small-pitch special chains and 081, 083/084 and 085 chains. Each chain size has a separate subgroup, and in most of them the sprockets are divided into simplex, duplex and triplex. The standard material is C45 steel with unhardened teeth; some larger sprockets are also available in grey cast iron, which dampens vibration well. Sprockets with hardened teeth can be found in the Hardened hub sprockets group, stainless ones - in the Stainless steel sprockets group, and sprockets for American chains - in the ASA sprockets group.

Simplex, duplex or triplex hub sprockets - how to choose

The number of strands on the sprocket must match the number of strands on the chain. A multi-strand sprocket has two or three tooth rims at the chain strand spacing and transmits correspondingly more power at the same diameter - a good solution when the machine has no room for a larger pitch.

Preparing the hub bore and other questions about hub sprockets

How do I prepare the hub bore?

The pilot bore is bored out to the shaft size with the required fit, then a keyway is cut to DIN 6885. After machining, a sufficiently thick wall must remain in the hub, also at the keyway.

Sprockets with a machined bore and keyway can be found in the Finished bore sprockets group, and sprockets for a taper bush - in the Taper-Lock sprockets group.
