Tandem sprockets (for two chains)

Tandem sprockets have two tooth rims on one hub, each driving a separate simplex chain. A single sprocket receives drive through one chain and passes it on through the other, or splits power from one shaft between two driven units. We offer them for European B series chains to DIN 8187 / ISO 606.

Tandem sprockets - driving a roller conveyor with short chain loops

In a roller conveyor, tandem sprockets allow the rollers to be connected with short chain loops: each loop is easy to tension and replace, and a failure of one does not require dismantling the whole drive. One sprocket instead of two means fewer parts and savings in time and space on the shaft. The Taper-Lock version reduces fitting to a minimum - no boring and no keyway cutting.

Standard sprockets in C45 steel with a bore to be machined for the shaft, and sprockets with a Taper-Lock bush seat. In many sizes, sprockets with induction-hardened teeth are also available, and in the 16B size - a stainless steel sprocket. The range is organised into subgroups by chain size.

How to match a tandem sprocket to the chain and conveyor roller

Start with the chain designation, then choose the number of teeth for the ratio and the conveyor roller diameter. The tooth rim spacing, if it matters in your design, is given in the name or on the product page.

Questions about tandem sprockets - replacing with a duplex sprocket and rim spacing

Can a tandem sprocket be replaced with a duplex sprocket?

No. The tooth rims of a duplex sprocket are spaced to match the strands of a single chain, while on a tandem sprocket they are spaced further apart so that two independent chains can run side by side.

Is the Taper-Lock bush included with the sprocket?

No. The seat size is given in the sprocket name, and the bush bored for a specific shaft is selected separately in the Bushes category, in the Taper-Lock group.
