Stainless steel sprockets are sprockets made of stainless steel for European B series roller chains to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. They solve the rust problem where ordinary steel would corrode quickly: in the food and beverage industry, wash-down areas, cold stores, treatment plants and outdoor equipment.
Stainless steel sprockets - no painting, resistant to washing and moisture
A stainless sprocket needs no painting or other protective coatings, withstands frequent washing well and does not contaminate its surroundings with corrosion products - important where there is contact with food. You save on maintenance and downtime, because the drive does not rust up. For the harshest conditions, with salt, food acids or chlorine-based cleaning agents, a sprocket in 316 acid-resistant steel with added molybdenum is also available.
Stainless steel sprockets with hub, plate and with bearing - selection by pitch
Mainly pilot bore hub sprockets, arranged in subgroups by chain size. In selected sizes we also offer plate wheels without a hub, a sprocket with a double-sided hub, sprockets with bearing for tensioners and a stainless sprocket with hardened teeth. A sprocket for two chains can be found in the Tandem subgroup, and the group itself also contains individual 05B and 08A (ASA 40) stainless sprockets.
Frequently asked questions about stainless steel sprockets
Is a stainless sprocket as strong as a steel one?
Stainless steel is usually softer than C45 steel with hardened teeth, so under high loads it wears faster. Its advantages are corrosion resistance and hygienic operation.
Does a stainless sprocket need a stainless chain?
We recommend this combination. A chain made of ordinary steel would corrode in the same conditions, and the rust would accelerate tooth wear.
