24B-2 duplex plate sprockets

24B-2 plate sprockets are flat plate wheels with two tooth rims for duplex 24B-2 chain of 1 1/2" (38.1 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. You choose them when the sprocket is to be part of your own design - welded to a hub, bolted to a flange or mounted on a drum.

A plate wheel without a hub gives full freedom: you make the hub exactly for your shaft and seating length, and at the next replacement you can keep the serviceable hub and replace only the worn rim. A plate wheel is also lighter and cheaper than a hub sprocket of the same size, which makes transport easier with large diameters. Two chain strands transmit more power without increasing the sprocket diameter.

How do I connect the plate wheel to the shaft?

Most often the plate wheel is welded to a hub made for the shaft or bolted to a flange. When welding large plate wheels it is worth heating them evenly to avoid rim runout.
