081 (1/2" x 1/8") plate sprockets

081 plate sprockets are designed for light 081 roller chain of 1/2" (12.7 mm) pitch and narrow 1/8" inner width to ISO 606. This chain is found in light drives and simple mechanisms, including single-speed bicycles.

Narrow 081 plate wheels - no side play and no chain coming off

The narrow plate wheel fits 081 chain exactly, so the chain has no side play and does not come off the sprocket. You bore the plate for your own shaft or hub and bolt or weld it on - making it easy to recreate a worn sprocket in an existing machine. C45 steel copes well with typical loads.

081 simplex plate wheels in C45 steel, with unhardened teeth. Plate wheels for wider 1/2" chains can be found in the 083/084, 085 and 08B subgroups.

Can I fit 08B chain on an 081 plate wheel?

No. 08B chain is much wider and has a larger roller, so it will not fit on the narrow tooth of an 081 plate wheel.
