24B-3 triplex Taper-Lock sprockets

24B-3 Taper-Lock sprockets are triplex sprockets for 24B-3 chain of 1 1/2" (38.1 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. They are designed for the heaviest, slow-running drives, in which a triplex chain transmits enormous forces.

The sprockets are made of grey cast iron, which at such large diameters provides rigidity and good vibration damping. The Taper-Lock seat allows a massive sprocket to be mounted without machining the bore and without welding, and to be removed from the shaft without a puller during servicing.

What should I pay attention to when fitting?

Before tightening the bush, align the sprocket with the chain and check rim runout. With such a wide sprocket, even slight misalignment quickly wears the chain.
