16B (1") Taper-Lock sprockets

16B Taper-Lock sprockets work with 16B roller chain of 1" (25.4 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. This is a size for heavy drives - conveyors, construction machinery and industrial equipment.

16B Taper-Lock sprockets - a heavy sprocket with no lathe, puller or heating

A large, heavy sprocket with a Taper-Lock seat can be fitted without a lathe, and when replacing it you remove it from the shaft without a puller and without heating. The bush size grows with the sprocket and the number of strands, so the connection reliably transmits high torque. For work in dust choose hardened teeth, and for large driven sprockets - grey cast iron.

Runout after fitting - frequently asked questions about 16B Taper-Lock sprockets

How do I check sprocket runout after fitting?

After tightening the bush, turn the shaft and watch the tooth rim against a fixed point, ideally with a dial indicator. Noticeable runout means the bush has seated crookedly - loosen it and tighten it again.

Can I replace a simplex sprocket with a duplex one?

Only together with the chain. A duplex sprocket needs 16B-2 chain, which transmits more power at the same sprocket diameter.
