10B (5/8") Taper-Lock sprockets

10B Taper-Lock sprockets work with 10B roller chain of 5/8" (15.875 mm) pitch to DIN 8187 / ISO 606. This is a popular size in agricultural machinery and conveyors where 08B chain is no longer strong enough.

10B Taper-Lock sprockets - accurate centring without a lathe or slotting machine

You mount the sprocket on the shaft with a taper bush, so you need no lathe or slotting machine, and the sprocket is accurately centred. For replacement, you simply loosen the bush - the shaft stays undamaged. In all strand versions you can choose hardened teeth, which cope better with dust and frequent starts.

Can a Taper-Lock sprocket be bored out to fit the shaft?

No. The seat is tapered and works only with a bush. If you want to machine the bore yourself, choose a sprocket from the Hub sprockets group.

How do I choose the number of strands?

The number of strands on the sprocket must match the chain. If you are designing a new drive, a multi-strand chain lets you transmit more power without increasing the sprocket diameter.
