Finished bore sprockets

Finished bore sprockets are hub sprockets in which the shaft bore has already been machined to a specific diameter and a keyway has been cut in the hub. The bore diameter is given in the product name as D, e.g. D=25. You fit the sprocket straight onto a keyed shaft - with no turning, reaming or keyway cutting.

Finished bore sprockets - replace a sprocket in a few minutes without a machinist

The biggest benefit is time: you can replace a worn sprocket in a few minutes, without a trip to the machine shop and without waiting for machining. It is a convenient solution for maintenance teams, workshops without their own lathe and machine builders who want to reduce the number of operations during assembly. You pay for a finished part, not for an extra service. Sprockets made to the standard work with chain from any manufacturer.

Sprockets with bore and keyway for B series chains (DIN 8187)

Sprockets for European B series chains to DIN 8187 / ISO 606 in the most popular pitches, made of C45 steel. Simplex sprockets predominate, and in a few sizes individual duplex sprockets are available. Each chain size has a separate subgroup, and the bore diameter and number of teeth are given in the product name. If you need a non-standard bore or a special fit, choose a pilot bore sprocket from the Hub sprockets group.

How to match a finished bore sprocket to the chain and shaft

Start with the chain designation, e.g. 08B-1 - it specifies the pitch and number of strands. Then choose the number of teeth based on the required ratio and the space in the machine. Finally, match the bore diameter D to the shaft diameter - the keyway is cut to suit this diameter.

Frequently asked questions about finished bore sprockets

How do I stop the sprocket from sliding along the shaft?

The key transmits torque but does not lock the sprocket along the shaft. Use a retaining ring, a spacer sleeve or a set screw in a tapped hole in the hub.
