Keyless locking bushes

Keyless locking bushes connect a shaft to the hub of a pulley, coupling, disc or lever by friction alone. During tightening, the tapered rings move relative to each other - the outer ring expands in the hub bore, and the inner ring clamps onto the shaft. This is the solution for anyone who wants to avoid a key, play and troublesome removal.

Keyless locking bushes - an interference connection without a key and without play

A shaft without a keyway is stronger and cheaper to make. You can set the pulley in any angular and axial position and only then clamp it - a huge convenience when synchronising cams, gears and discs. The connection has no circumferential play, copes well with alternating and reversing loads, and removal requires no pullers or heating of the hub. The bush can be fitted many times.

Locking bush types: thin-walled, standard and thick-walled

Bushes in many types, designated by a pair of letters and the d/D dimensions - each type has its own subgroup. The types differ in design and wall thickness: thin-walled ones (e.g. NN, CC, FC, FF) fit in small hubs, standard ones (e.g. AA, AB, DA, DB, GG) cover a wide range of diameters, and thick-walled types (MM, PP) allow a shaft to be fitted in a large bore. How to choose a keyless locking bush for shaft d and hub bore D

Measure the shaft diameter d and determine what bore D you can make in the hub while keeping its wall thick enough. When space is limited, choose a thin-walled type. When replacing a bush in an existing machine, order the same letter type that was fitted.

How do I read the designation CC 25/34?

CC is the bush type, 25 - the shaft diameter in millimetres, and 34 - the diameter of the hub bore in which the bush is to work.

Are bushes of different types with the same dimensions interchangeable?

Not always. Several types share a common d/D range, but they differ in design and transmitted torque. When replacing, go by the letter designation.
