Bushes in our range are mainly used to fix pulleys, sprockets, gears and couplings on the shaft. A taper bush replaces labour-intensive bore fitting - you fit the pulley quickly, without machining, and if necessary remove it without a puller and without the risk of damaging the shaft.

A bush is the cheapest way to match one pulley to different shafts - instead of buying a new pulley, you replace just the bush with a different bore. You save time on installation and servicing, because the connection is clamped with ordinary spanners, without a press or heating the hub. Taper-Lock bushes are made to a recognised standard, so they fit pulleys with a seat of the same size, regardless of their manufacturer.

Taper-Lock bushes - tapered clamping bushes with a bore and keyway, in subgroups by seat size. Keyless locking bushes - they connect the shaft to the hub by friction alone, without a key, in subgroups by letter type. Adapter bushes MSB and MSC, working with Taper-Lock bushes, and threaded bushes. In the main group you will also find plain, thin-walled and splined bushes.

Taper-Lock or keyless locking bush - which one to choose for the pulley

A Taper-Lock bush requires a pulley with a tapered seat of the appropriate size - this is typical for catalogue pulleys. A keyless locking bush works in an ordinary, plain hub bore and allows the pulley to be set in any position before clamping - it works well in custom-made hubs, couplings and components that need to be precisely synchronised.

Where do I start when choosing a bush?

With the shaft diameter. For Taper-Lock the second parameter is the seat size in the pulley, and for a keyless locking bush - the hub bore diameter, given as the second number in the designation.

Does the shaft need a keyway?

With a Taper-Lock bush, yes, because its bore has a keyway. A keyless locking bush transmits torque by friction alone, so the shaft and hub can be plain.
